Recently my father moved to assisted living apartment complex. It was too difficult for him to manage the maintenance of their home on a day-to-day basis. At first I thought it was going to be hard for him to move into this apartment complex because it is a very active person, but he seems to really enjoy it. They assisted living staff provide great activities for him to participate, and he gets to relax and enjoy his retirement instead of worrying about maintaining your home.
When my mother was alive, my father and her would always put together great gift baskets for all the family and their close friends. They worked for months in advance planning and cooking so they can get all your creations to everyone on your holiday list. After my mother died my family and I tried to help her father to give them, but we just could not get it all together. We were able to get a few baskets out, but other people on the list were sent nut gift baskets instead.
It turns out that people who received gift baskets nut really excited about them. They enjoyed their thoughtful gifts and invited my father to thank him again and again. Many of the friends that my mother and father were sent baskets are diabetic, so the nut gift baskets worked much better for them than cookies or baked goods.
So this year my father decided that he did not want to try cooking at all. Instead, he wanted to give my special baskets for everyone on your list. Unfortunately, the cost of buying that many of them was simply too much for his budget. So we decided on a compromise of their own to send instead.
In the summer we set up on a mission to find discount baskets that we could use for our holiday gift giving. Surprising finding decent prices on them is not as difficult as I expected. We visited several shops and craft products quickly enough to create our gifts. While in the store to pick up some crafts are a clear film to cover them with some decorative ribbons as well.
After finding the basket the rest of the work is pretty easy. We bought a variety of nuts for a variety of online stores and our local supermarket. Then we schedule a weekend to sit down and put them all together.
My wife and I had so much fun helping my father with his own holiday is that we decided to buy supplies to make our own nut gift baskets for our friends and colleagues!
Making your gifts for people on your list is a creative way to get the whole family involved in the spirit of giving. Plus our nut gift baskets cost a fraction of what you normally spend on gifts for the holidays!
