The Beauty of Bangkok

This is unlike any city you've ever seen, my friend told me to prepare for our trip to Bangkok. He was right, because it is difficult to capture the individuality of the Asian Center in words.

Our taxi driver was toothless, but charming as he negotiates happen to know that too, but how do you argue with his grandfather, who probably has no social security? It is effective in moving crammed the streets, where cars drive down a 3 lane is intended only 2, and still manages to deposit us safely to our hotel of choice, Menama Riverside Hotel. This is a first class hotel with upscale attitude and proudly holding his own against the luxury hotels that line the fairway. Between the majestic hotel giants lie teetering wooden houses that threaten to topple into the river, but this too is part of the character of the city.

water long journey by boat is definitely the fastest and cheapest way to navigate between downtown destinations. If you're more adventurous, take a Tuk Tuk - three-wheeled motorcycle with seating for two behind the driver. Be prepared to be tough in negotiating freight and time, because the drivers get a bonus for the delivery of unsuspecting tourists customize stores or jewelry stores. You will also be subjected to fumes from the chaotic traffic, but no trip to Thailand is complete without experiencing at least a Tuk Tuk ride!

at the end of every tourist arrives at the Grand Palace impressive comb-Thai architecture and Buddhist temples. I could hold for hours for taking incredible photos in this mythical-like setting. short walk takes us outside the gates of the royal next famous site, Wat Pho, where 150 foot Buddha lay in his brilliance. the enormity of this statue is located in a very small temple, but I stand in awe as the feet inlaid with mother of pearl tower over my head for 50 yards.

After a day of sight seeing, we can opt for an evening dinner cruise to explore the city skyline at night. TOK TOY is a well-respected restaurant that locals recommend us. Cruise is reasonably priced and provides excellent views of the river at night, while enjoying the beautiful dish famous Thai cuisine.

of the ancient temple of Wat Arun on the bank of the river looks like a plaster wedding cake, so next day we returned to the middle of the day ferry to examine it more closely. The ancient temple was built of plaster and broken chips of porcelain that appear to be originally designed for utensils or dishes. intricate designs are mixed with pieces of mirror repeat flower petals. It is hard to imagine the hours of devotion that went into complex structures. steep narrow steps are only navigable a short climb, but the view is spectacular and stunning architecture and that is the highlight of my trip. The only thing I enjoy more shopping! Gemstones are plentiful and well priced, so this is a wonderful place to buy jewelry, but be sure to buy from reputable sources.

too soon it's time to go to the next city on our tour of Thailand, but Bangkok has captured a part of my soul. If you travel to Thailand, pause long enough in its capital enjoy a special bit that makes this city so unique.
