It is predicted that most college graduates today will work for five different companies and have gone through ten different jobs before he retired. I'm on the other end of the trip. After that, "said the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker, " I took the time to master.
I'm old enough to remember the sixties and real-world experience. My whole family is pushing me to start the ball rolling in the classroom .. My sister is a teacher in Connecticut. My mother in law is a retired teacher. I always thought teaching would be the last big job in life.
So here I am, substitute teacher for now, a year and a half days. My view of the teaching environment is different from someone who is Masters in Education and is known only to the area all their lives. I do not think my way is better than anyone else. I am trying to add my two cents into the equation and change I want to change yourself first. My goal is to become a great teacher. Substitute teaching I have done includes kindergarten through high school.
I spent four months in a teacher-school suspension (ISS) Students in high school. ISS High School is located in the village where the violent crime rate was 11.1 in 1000, only 16% of 25-year-old and older population has more than a HS diploma or GED. Exceptional Student Education at the upper middle class town is not the same type of students can be found in the poor city. I spent the day with a first grade gifted class in the village (A) and the first few classes can communicate better than regular freshmen students in the village (D). There are so many learning resources available for parents, students and teachers that there should be, "No child left behind" .* The law was promoted to require 100% of students (including disadvantaged and ESE students) in schools within the same state standards in reading and math by 2014. The goal is unattainable. Some students simply can not perform at the level of their age, no matter how good a teacher. My effort will be 100%. My plan is to find the path to success for every child, and I hope to follow it.
